MODUS PFI achieve validation to ICW 'Leading Edge'

MODUS is the latest recipient of the coveted ICW CPVS (Collaborative Performance Validation Scheme) award.

MODUS Services Ltd (MSL) is the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) that plays an important and key role in maintaining the MOD Main Building, ensuring the building’s continuous capability and availability as both the Ministerial Office of State and as a military operational headquarters. This requires the highest quality of service delivery and engagement with interested parties.

The aim of the ICW CPVS is to give members the opportunity to demonstrate their collaborative working capability beyond ISO 44001 certification, showing through independent assessment that they are recognised as a ‘Leading Edge’ collaborative organisation and collaboration truly embedded within their culture and ways of working.

The award assessment of MODUS recognised that the PFI Team are setting a new benchmark for leaders in collaboration, showing real evidence of capability, with deep knowledge of best practice to achieve significant benefits whilst working to jointly manage risk. The MODUS partners of Vercity Group, Amey, and Skanska, alongside the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) work as an effective joint collaborative team, working to the International Standard for Collaborative Working (ISO 44001) first achieved by the team in 2017 and continuously expanded and maintained. DIO are a strong supporter of structured collaboration, to deliver better value to the taxpayer, which this award strongly reinforces.

TransPennine Route Upgrade Alliance achieve validation to ICW ‘Leading Edge’

Last year ICW made our first ever award for our 'Leading Edge' scheme to the TransPennine Route Upgrade Alliance.

We asked Brian Walton of BAM and Operations Director - Civils, for TRU - West, to tell us about their experience of the evaluation, and he provided this feedback:

"In response to an offer from ICW, the TRU West Alliance became part of a 'Pilot Study' for the Collaborative Performance Validation Scheme (CPVS) in late 2023, with the goal of verifying and determining TRU's collaborative maturity beyond ISO44001 and, ideally, establishing TRU as a 'leading edge organisation' in collaborative working.

"For us this was an opportunity not just to support ICW with the pilot, but we were also excited to demonstrate and test our collaborative experience and credentials."

The team on TRU led by Sarah Barnes (MICW) and supported by Rebecca Atkinson, worked closely with Bill Taylor, who led validation for the ICW. They said: "Bill is among the most competent and meticulous assessors we have ever worked with. The team that collaborated with Bill found the Pilot to be both rewarding and challenging, but mostly it was a learning experience, and the validation scheme has been extremely helpful in shaping our future strategy. We all appreciated Bill's understanding, assistance, and knowledge."

All ICW member organisations are encouraged to apply, interact with ICW, and take the CPVS maturity test.
