Structured Collaboration for Small-to-Medium Enterprises

ICW Toolkit to support SMEs developing and harnessing collaborative working

Collaboration can be a strong feature for how SMEs do business and gain benefit. If this collaboration is done in a structured way it is more likely to be effective, repeatable and improve performance. By demonstrating to existing and potential partners, customers and stakeholders that you are collaborative, it can enhance and expand your relationships.
To help SMEs harness collaborative working, the Institute of Collaboration has developed a toolkit. To provide guidance and assessment, for an SME to develop and improve their collaborative approach:
Take a look at the three ways ICW can help SMEs develop and/or validate their collaborative approach.
You can start with our 'How-to' guide for in-depth straightforward guidance. Once you have understood the guidance you can do our free self-assessment. If you are then ready for a more in-depth assessment to validate your collaborative capability, proceed to our expert scheme.

HOW-TO GUIDE

A step-by-step approach that provides guidance and an understanding of the key aspects of structured business collaboration. Our approach is compatible with the International Standard for collaboration for SMEs (ISO 44003) and its collaborative principles, so it follows good practice.
Click the following in turn to read through the guidance:

SELF ASSESSEMENT

Based on our good practice guidance we have created an online assessment tool that allows an SME that wants to collaborate to analyse their strengths and weaknesses. This assessment highlights how you measure-up and provides indications of where to make any improvements.
You can access the self-assessment here:

ICW EXPERT ASSESSEMENT

For SMEs that want to validate their 'Collaborative Competence', ICW provide a tailored service. It's an expert assessment to confirm capability. Successful SMEs get a validation certificate and the right to use a special logo, which can be used as evidence to show potential customers and partners for bids and work that need collaboration.
